香港日本人学校大埔校のできごと2022

On Friday October 28th, we held our annual Halloween Fun Day at JIS. All the students and teachers came in costume: some cute, some funny, some scary... The English Department theme this year was Super Mario!




To start the day, we had an English Halloween Assembly, for which a Primary 6 class had recorded a spooky story called 'The Night Before Halloween...'





Then the Primary 1 and 2 students went trick-or-treating around the school collecting stamps from different teachers....





Later in the day, Primary 3-6 tried three different Halloween activities: a Mario-themed obstacle course, a craft activity in which they made a Mario mushroom bookmark, and a short Halloween movie (they could choose scary, or funny). A great day was had by all!

On July 20th, the Primary 5 and 6 students enjoyed a performance of 'Beauty and the Beast', by Dovetales Theatre Company. It was an interactive show, with lots of opportunities for everyone to get involved. Some students (and some teachers!) went on stage, while two MCs introduced the show. Afterwards, everyone had the chance to ask some questions to the performers about the story, and about their lives as actors.

This month, the English Department held their annual Recitation Contest. 100 students from Primary 1 to Primary 6 learned and performed English poems by famous authors such as Julia Donaldson, AA Milne and Maya Angelou. The standard was very high, and our judges had a tough time choosing a winner and five runners-up from each grade. The winning students then performed their poems live on Zoom to the whole school, in the first English Assembly of the year. A big 'well done' to everyone who entered and tried their best!
